ART+ talked to Mrs. Margrit Mondavi about her interest in art, music and the annual Summer Jazz Festival at the Robert Mondavi Winery. Mrs. Mondavi discussed her cookbook Annie and Margrit which she co-wrote with her daughter, Annie who was Executive Chef at the Robert Mondavi Winery. The book received the 2003 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. Mrs. Mondavi believes that good food and wine are important because, as she said, "important events in our lives are usually shared around dinner tables". Mrs. Margrit Mondavi talked about some of the art and music programs she introduced at the Mondavi Winery and how she expanded the Winery's art collection. Mr. Robert Mondavi described Margrit by: "She created a showplace for painters, sculptors, photographers, jazz and classical musicians and the great chefs and winemakers of the world." In this interview, Mrs. Mondavi talked about some of the Mondavi family's past and future philanthropic plans that relate to art and education at UCDavis. She is very proud of the Art Department and Wine School at UCDavis, and believes that UCDavis is an excellent University. This interview includes segments by Mr. Wayne Thiebaud who exhibited at the Winery, is Professor Emeritus, UCDavis and is a friend of Mrs. Mondavi; Mr. Ben Jaffe from Preservation Hall Jazz Band who always open the Summer Jazz Festival at the Winery; Mr. John Bonick , California painter whom we interviewed during his show's opening at the Mondavi Winery. John Natsoulas Gallery organized the Sacramento Valley Landscape Conference on July 21, 2007 . This conference includes Plein-Aire Painting Demonstrations and Lunch with the Artists. Some of the well known California painters who will participate in the Conference are Gregory Kondos, Melissa Chandon, Deladier Almeida, Chella and Philippe Gandiol . ART+ interviewed film director Alexandra Lipsitz about her documentary film Air Guitar Nation. Alexandra talked about the motivation to make a film about air guitar that chronicles the birth of the US Air Guitar Competition. The documentary includes interviews with and performances by the world's leading air guitar performers including C-Diddy and Bjorn Turoque ( aka Dan Crane). Louis Peres from Los Lobos talked to ART+ about their new album The Town and The City which was voted one of the best albums in 2006. One of its songs, The Town is on The Boston Herald's top 10 and The Valley was used by HBO on one of the last episodes of The Sopranos. Louis talked about the immigrant songs that Los Lobos sings about and how they relate to their lives. Louis also mentioned that Los Lobos is planning to release a new album with children's songs from Latin America. The audio file of the interview

ART+ interviewed Utah Phillips, the golden voice of the great South West, talked about his latest albums, I've Got To Know and Starlight on The Rail, which are distributed by Daemon Records. Starlight on the Rail contains 63 of Utah's best know songs. Utah was very candid and enthusiastic about his views and his songs. He shared with ART+ his views on life, the peace movement and discussed the current class definitions in the United States and why the Media is so predictable in its coverage.
